Ron Fortier spent his childhood in New York City where he and his grand-uncle Luiz visited art galleries nearly every day.

He and his single mother, a Portuguese Fado singer of some note, later returned to Massachusetts. In high school, he was a set designer and painter for the Opera Department at Southeastern Massachusetts University.

Ron was accepted to the prestigious School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, but decided to attend the Southeastern Massachusetts University (today’s University of Massachusetts Dartmouth), where worked for Boris Goldovsky, the Voice of the Metropolitan Opera in New York City.

After he received his BFA in Painting, he was accepted to the MFA program University of Miami on a full-ride scholarship. Retired from a 40+ year career in Marketing he paints and exhibits internationally.

He recently lived in Figueira da Foz on the Silver Coast of Mainland Portugal where he painted over one hundred canvases in one year. His primary residence is in the historic seacoast town of Fairhaven, Massachusetts.

Ron continues to maintain a studio in Portugal where he is represented by the Galeria O Rastro
