Artist’s Journal: NUMBER 24

“To know that we know

what we know, and that

we do not know

what we do not know,

that is knowledge.”

Henry David Thoreau 1817 – 1862

I have come to the conclusion that what I know is infinitely less important than what I don’t know.  With that in mind and, with The Season soon upon us, I’m reminded of a line from The Polar Express, “On Christmas Eve many years ago I laid quietly in my bed. I did not rustle the sheets, I breathed slowly and silently. I was listening for a sound I was afraid I’d never hear: the sound of Santa’s sleigh bells.”

I keep on believing that I will be the artist and teacher I always wanted to be even though it still seems so far from me at this very moment…
